Yoga Therapy Sessions

An initial yoga therapy session includes a formal intake where we review current health and lifestyle information, and personal history and outlook. After that, a postural and physical assessment is completed. This information allows us to set goals and design a direction for further sessions.

Subsequent sessions establish the “work phase”. The client is then guided through a protocol of yogic techniques and a short daily homework is assigned. Periodically we reassess progress and adjust goals if necessary.

What to expect in a session:

Everyone's body is special and unique. My private sessions are designed to meet you where you're at and put together a program tailored to your specific needs. Clients can expect to learn many supporting yogic techniques to promote self-healing, and mental and spiritual well-being.

In person sessions are always best to fully evaluate your needs and guide you through yogic practices. However, I understand that is not always possible or practical in todays world and am happy to support you via virtual sessions.

I offer 3-4 person group classes that address group-specific concerns such as chronic pain, anxiety, arthritis, and other issues. Please get in touch with me to see what classes are currently available and let me know what you are looking for help with.

Your Yoga Therapist

Kristi Coffman

Susan has helped me through a couple of life’s challenges, the latest being a fall where I broke three ribs. Her gentle persuasion to get moving again while pushing me just enough to help me regain my confidence was the catalyst I needed. Through yoga therapy, Susan helped me identify what my body could do and gave me alternative ways to regain my strength when traditional yoga couldn’t be accomplished. This, coupled with Susan’s calm demeanor and soothing tone, was the best medicine!

Testimonials

Rebecca Machain

When I first started practicing with Susan I was recovering from major surgery and dealing with a lot of anxiety. Susan taught me ways to replace my negative self-talk while I strengthened my body through therapeutic yoga sequences. Now as a full-time undergrad embarking onto my professional career, I practice with Susan weekly as a measure of self-care. Susan is kindhearted, intuitive, and vastly knowledgeable. She provides a space free of judgment and of tranquility. To put it simply, I love her flow.

Testimonials

Angelica Perez

Susan is an amazing yoga therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable, and her sessions were life-changing for me. I learned so much about myself and learned many techniques to help with anxiety and stress. I highly recommend you try out her sessions!

Testimonials

Nick Holmes

I took Susan Bentley's Yoga Therapy class, and it was a wonderful class that dove deeply into techniques, asanas, and breathing exercises on healing emotional wounds. She provides a scientifically sound approach that specifically addresses the areas that need attention and focus. I recommend her class for those seeking to relieve anxiety and understand better how to empower themselves by taking hold of their health and wellbeing.

Testimonials

Dawn Rider-Weiss

Susan has helped me recover from the horrible side effects of Covid 19. She has been my trusted and preferred yoga instructor for 13 years; I have been with her at 24-Hour for 13 years! Her ability to teach me mindful Asana and Pranayama has been a true life saver. Private, professional lessons are the way to go! I suck at doing yoga via zoom! Social distancing guidelines were totally executed and honored :) I HIGHLY recommend Susan!
